Jurgen Klinsmann says German Team can expect Tough test with Benfica
United States national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who also has the experience of playing and managing Bayern Munich, says that the German team can expect a tough test when they take on Benfica at the Estádio da Luz in a few days.
Bayern secured a 1-0 lead from the first leg, but Benfica manager Rui Vitória strangely claimed that he was happy with the result. This is seen as a sign of great confidence from the Portuguese team that they will be able to get a result at home. Klinsmann says that playing against Benfica in front of their own supporters is a difficult prospect.
Bayern can fill confident about a few aspects like the lack of an away goal for Benfica, while they come into the match with an advantage of their own. Even though there are difficulties ahead, Klinsmann expects Pep Guardiola and his team to get past the Portuguese team and reach the semifinals of the Champions League. This will give Guardiola another opportunity to aim at winning the Champions League with the German club. He has failed at the semi-final stage in the last two seasons. After already announcing his exit from the club in the summer, this will be the final opportunity for Guardiola to improve his reputation even further.
“The second leg is damn hard – but Bayern will overcome it,” said Klinsmann about the second leg in Portugal. The German also went on to speak about German club Wolfsburg’s chances of holding their 2-0 advantage over Real Madrid in the second leg.“It was a fantastic game, totally deserved. It’s not a very big surprise. Wolfsburg are where they are now for a reason. They have indicated over the whole year that they can keep up with everyone,” continued the US national team boss.
