BAYERN RULE OUT TRANSFER

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said that the German club are not looking to make an offer for the Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong, who has only one year left on his current deal. The Dutchman arrived at the club in a deal worth around £ 20 million a few years ago. However, he has not featured regularly under manager Roberto Mancini in the last couple of seasons. He has been constantly linked with a move away from the club. German club Bayern Munich were thought to be leading the chase to bring him back to Germany.

However, their chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled out the possibility of signing the 28-year-old by saying that the reports are untrue. Only a few weeks ago, Nigel de Jong had said to the media that he was not worried about his contract situation because he believed that everything would be sorted in the next couple of weeks. However, it is understood that City have not given the former Hamburg player any new deal. As a result, the transfer speculation has only increased, but it seems that German club Bayern Munich are not in the running for his sign.

“My contract runs for another year, so I’m in a pretty good position. I want to stay. I’ve been at the club for three years and I’m feeling really well. I have won the FA Cup and the league title, which are the biggest trophies in England,” said the midfielder a few weeks ago. It is thought that the Premier league Champions are not willing to let the player leave on a free transfer. They are looking for around £ 5 million in transfer fees in order to balance the books.
