BAYERN MAKE A PROFIT
Bayern Munich gained a 1.3 million euro profit for the 2010-2011 season, in spite of failing to gain any silverware and a hard-hitting economic climate, the club said on Friday. Although the previous season the German club managed a 2.9 million euro profit, considering the circumstances of a barren season, the club seemed to have done extraordinarily well to boast profit again last season.
“Bayern are financially well positioned for the future,” board director Karl Hopfner told the club’s annual general assembly in Munich. He also went onto to state the impressive achievement of making a profit despite the problems that they faced.
Bayern Munich have also been able to brag that they have more than satisfactorily been able to meet the demands of UEFA’s new financial fair play rule. These rules are in place to stop the reckless spending of wages and transfers. They also state that clubs must be able to break even over three years, which looks a tough task for a lot of clubs, in particular the huge spending outfit of Manchester City.
Merchandise sales at the German outfit also grew considerably last season from 38.9 million to 43.9 million, which considering the financial crisis is another fine effort from the German Club who financially seem to be doing everything right.
Bayern Munich are however still paying for their new stadium The Allianz Arena which club officials are expecting to have an further 30 million euros accessible once it is paid off in less than 10 years.
This no doubt illustrates the financial stability of one Europe’s biggest clubs and clearly is there for all to see that financially football is a profitable game, if you play it correctly.
