ALABA AGREES TO JOIN REAL MADRID
Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has reportedly agreed to join Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid. This is according to the report from Sky Germany which revealed that he has agreed a five-year contract with the 13-time European champions.
It was revealed that the two clubs – Bayern Munich and Real Madrid – would announce the free transfer of David Alaba to Madrid in the coming weeks.
Alabarevealed that he would be ending his 13-year stay at Bayern Munich via a press conference. During his time at Bayern Munich, the Austrian utility player has won nine German Bundesliga titles and two Champions League titles.
The Austrian can play as a left-back, as a central defender and as a midfielder. He won the FIFA Club World Cup tournament earlier this year, the sixth title won by Bayern within nine months under the guidance of manager Hansi Flick.
Alabaplayed the majority of his minutes at the centre of the Bayern Munich defenceas the club swept all the six trophies before them in the past months. Bayern won the German Bundesliga, the German Cup and the Champions League titles at the end of last season before adding the German Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup titles this season.
In addition to last season’s Champions League title, Alaba was also part of the Bayern squad that won the 2012/13 Champions League title. Alaba is expected to secure his tenth league title with Bayern this season and it could be as early as this weekend. A win at Mainz 05 will give the Bavarian giants another league title.
Bayern have already moved to replace Alaba with the signing of DayotUpamecano in a £38m deal from RB Leipzig. The Frenchman will join his new club this summer.
