Go, Joden, go!
What I am trying to point out is this.
İf you compare both teams in their prime Ajax in 1972-73 and Bayern 1974-75 Ajax was far stronger than Bayern. Ajax was immensly strong in all positions..
I don’t know what you are arguing about actually. If you watch the highlights of this game, anyone neutral and not biased will see that Ajax did not rout Bayern like the result may suggest. In the first half Bayern actually was the more convincing team. A 2-1 or 3-1 for Ajax would have been a fairer result for this game.
This wouldn’t have significant impact.. Ajax would have won the return game in munich if neccesary. .They scored the first goal and than changed a gear back .was also right decision
Also, Gerd Müller was handicapped in this game because he played with a broken fibula (which was not known at the time).
Indeed but that was a friendly game played during the 1972 Olympics. As those were held in Munich, the Bundesliga would only start in mid-September 1972. So when Bayern played Ajax in that friendly, Ajax was already in full swing because the Dutch league already was on while Bayern had just started their preparations.
You were wrong ajax was 200% superior over bayern.
6 months earlier they had annihilated bayern in munich with
5-0 in friendship game..the return game was won by bayern but ajax took it easy and cryuff didnt come to munich.if ajax head pushed they woud have won the return game even without cruff
Ajax in 1972-1973 would win 9 out of 10 games against any club team in the world.. BAYERN WAS A PIECE OF CAKE.
Besides this pay attention to sth else: the second and third goal of Ajax come within just a 3-4 minutes interval, while the last goal is two minutes before the end when Bayern is despaired. A similar thing happened 22 years later when both teams palyed semifinal of the Champins League: almost whole fist half is 1:1 , then in the last five minutes before the break Ajax scores twice – 3:1 , thus deciding the game. And in the last minute when score was 4:2 and Bayern is despaired Ajax scores 5:2 .
Thanks for posting that game.
Until now I always thought that Ajax was superior 100 % over Bayern in this clash and now I see that actually all this is a myth. Until the first goal the game is generally 50:50. The first goal is Mayer`s mistake. Then Bayern throws ahead to equalize, the rest follows . The third goal – also not convincing Mayer (at least my humble opinion).
And Bayern won the return game with 2:1 in Munich : what could it be if they had a better score from the first game?
This game is considered to be Sepp Maier’s worst ever game for Bayern.
You can discuss the quality of Total Football all you want, the first goal was a bad error by Sepp Maier.
