Carlo Ancelotti claims that one of his biggest regrets in the game

Bayern Munich’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti claims that one of his biggest regrets in the game is the inability to manage a player like Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester United forward has been one of the favourite for managers like Jose Mourinho and Ancelotti despite the duo not having managed to the player once in their managerial career. After making the move from Everton to United in 2004, Rooney has been a Red Devil through and through. Even though there have been numerous times when he came close to leaving the club, he has always ended up staying at Old Trafford.

The comments from Ancelotti come the time when Rooney may be facing yet another period of uncertainty future at Old Trafford. Even though Jose Mourinho has taken over at the club, there remains a possibility of Rooney being sold owing to his poor form in recent years. The striker has not scored more than 20 goals in his last four seasons. Incredibly, Mourinho tried to sign him last summer when he was at Chelsea and it may be incredible to see him sell Rooney after finally getting the opportunity to manage him without having to spend a transfer fee. Apart from Rooney, Ancelotti also regrets not being able to manage Roma legend Francesco Totti.

“Here in England one of my favourite players was Rooney but I was not able to train him. In Italy, maybe Totti, who played for Roma. But I train a lot of fantastic players and I can say I was very lucky in my career,” said the new Bayern Munich manager. Ancelotti has not worked with almost all top clubs across the European leagues. His portfolio includes having managed to clubs like Chelsea, Paris St Jermain, AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, and now Bayern Munich in Germany.
