Bastian Schweinsteiger didnt got through good 1st Season
Bastian Schweinsteiger did not exactly have a great first half to the season. Due to a succession of injury problems, he was limited to only eight appearances in all competitions.
The German international, though, contributed heavily for Germany’s success at the World Cup 2014. Manager Pep Guardiola says that he expects strong performance from the 30-year-old in the second half of the season, which will resume towards the end of January in Germany. Bayern Munich could not have wished for a better first half to the season, as they already lead the table by nine points.
One of their nearest competitors in recent years, Borussia Dortmund, are struggling with the prospect of relegation. This has left the likes of Wolfsburg and Leverkusen to fight for the second spot.
A niggling knee injury has been quoted as the reason for Schweinsteiger missing a lot of matches. Wolfsburg will be the opponents for Bayern Munich when the season resumes. This could potentially increase the lead at the top of the table to 12 points. Last season, the Bavarian outfit won the league title in a record time. They could be on course to beating their own record. Bayern Munich are currently undergoing a training camp in the warmer climates of Doha.
“Something tells me he’s [Schweinsteiger] going to play really, really well.Mehdi Benatia had to train on his own because of back problems but the rest of the group have been training well and that makes me happy.I`m deeply satisfied with their efforts and their level of concentration,” said Guardiola, whose team are once again favourites to lift the Champions League. After being knocked out of the European competition in embarrassing fashion against Real Madrid in the semifinals, Guardiola will want to lift the trophy with Bayern Munich this season.
