  1. @thesherife agree with you there. Just seems like its another way for UEFA to make more money!!!!

  2. Please mr.Platini and rest of Uefa crew, bring back the old competiotion formula, bring back Uefa Cup,and bring back CWC.

  4. I miss the old CWC. This actuall Europa League sucks, bring back the old Uefa Cup and CWC,those competitions where very cool, and bring back the old formula of Champions League, just with the champions. The old Uefa competitions formula was very much fair, than the actual one,Champions League is just for the most reach teams, from the Spanish, English and Italian League, the old formula was very much fair and emotive, today uefa competitions are boring.

  6. What an achievement against a team packed with players who would go on to beat Cruyff’s Holland in the 1974 world cup final.

  7. Even as a Celts fan I have to admit that I really enjoyed watching that. Excellent Rangers performance!

When you think of who they were up against too – Maier, Brietner, Backenbauer, etc. What a team Bayern were! And yet, Alex MacDonald, Willie Johnstone, and Derek Parlane et al, played a great team off the park.

  8. because people(not me) think they have better things to do than play football these days johnston would have done nothing but play football

  9. Rangers played Bayern off the park and to consider their team were all West German internationals made it even more special.

  10. It’s over a generation ago since we had teams of quality who could perform well in Europe. Not just Rangers and Celtic. Aberdeen,Dundee,Dundee United,Dunfermline,Kilmarnock,Hearts and Hibs have all had their moments. When you consider the current state of our game,it’s hard to see that happening again.

  11. Take it John Greig didn’t play that evening?
Was it his foot? He had to hold off and use his head in Barcelona…
    Thanks for any replies.

  12. He used to do that a few times 🙂
I remember him doing that on the ball that night.

It was a “what the fook” moment. 🙂

  13. look at that superb wing play from johnston at 2:50 why cant rangers have young scottish players comin through now who can do that scotland was known 4 havin great wingers who could open defences brittish football as a whole is poor there is no real creativity from players like that now

  14. I was there as a lad !! 80,000 (at least !!) present with me, All us bears cant wait till the new stadium plans are revealed, The word is a 70,000 or 82,000 capacity is on the way !!

  15. The irony is that the best football played by rangers always had an abundance of left footers.
wilson, johnston, smith, macdonald, mathieson, robertson, newman, van bronchorst, albertz, amato, Mccann and lovenkrands
Sorry what was my point again ?
    good wee bit of film..

  16. I’ll never forget this game as it was only my second ever Rangers game. I was standing with my father in the West Enclosure looking right along the eighteen yard line and had a perfect view of Jardine’s “rocket. Well to a boy of seven it seemed like a rocket.

  17. That commentator is great. He sounds as if he’s reading a fairy tale. I would like to hear him read Lord of the Rings or any other story that involves elves, pixies and goblins. Do all Scottish people sound like that?
